18 Mar Jockey Club Oral Health Programme for People with Dementia
Objective:
The programme provides free dental services for people with early dementia in order to slow down their progression of dementia by cultivating ability of self-maintaining dental hygiene.
Eligible Participatns:
People with early dementia
- No age limit
- No asset review required
Participants should fulfill all requiremnts below:
- Provide proof of dementia
- Self-care ability (can brush teeth by oneself)
- Ability to communicate
- Have more than 5 real teeth
- Living in the community
- Accompanied by family members/caregivers to see the dentist at Loving Smiles Special Care Dental Centre
Funded Items:
- 3 times of free dental services within 9 months
- Taxi fare (accountable)
Free Dental Services:
Dental checking, cleaning, filling, extraction, oral health inspection, fluoride treatment, full mouth X-ray
*Additional services are subject to additional charges

Participants should fulfill all requiremnts below:
- Living in the community
- Have 8 or above teeth
- Provide confirmed proof
- Receiving ‘Old Age Living Allowance’ (except for Parkinson’s applicants)
Funded Items:
- Basic dental services
- Round-trip taxi fare subsidies when you visit the clinic (maximum 2 reimbursements, maximum $500 each time, actual reimbursement)
Free Dental Services:
Dental checking, oral health inspection, fluoride treatment, full mouth X-ray cleaning, filling, extraction
Common Symptoms of Early Dementia
- Become forgetful, especially for things that just happened
- Put something in the wrong place
- Difficult to handile complex chores
- Difficult to express and understand
- Emotional ups and downs, more prone to anxiety and temper tantrums

Oral Health Talk in Elderly Centre
We are seeking to cooperate with various community/elderly centers to organize the “Oral Health Talk” . We wish to share with the elders and caregivers how to maintain oral health by themselves, so as to prevent and slow down cognitive impairment deterioration.
