Monitoring of Oral Hygiene Maintenance by Loving Smiles Oral Health App
The Loving Smiles Oral Health app is part and parcel of the Jockey Club Special Oral Health Programme sponsored by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust to provide a series of app functions to facilitate the monitoring of oral hygiene practice of the eligible programme participants in order to establish good toothbrushing habits.
▶ Most Important Feature:My Family Members (Cargivers' Participation)
Up to 5 caregivers can be registered as family members of the programme participant to operate his / her app account so that they will not be denied of the benefit from the app because of their dementia condition.

▶ 3D dental model and “Brush along” tutorials
The 3D model is personalized according to the dental condition of the participant. And the “brush along” tutorials provide toothbrushing and interdental brushing techniques on the personalized model, with super-flossing technique given where dental bridges are present in the mouth. The tutorials provide cleaning of every tooth surface systematically within a 2-minute timer. They are practice guides for participants to follow every time they clean their teeth and help to ensure that their teeth are cleaned properly.
▶ Toothbrushing reminders and records
Customizable reminder times for brushing the teeth in the morning and evening and these toothbrushing activities could be recorded in the app to monitor the frequency and regularity of the teeth cleaning activities, helping to maintain a twice a day teeth cleaning habit for the persons with dementia.
▶ Oral health information
This feature is to allow the caregivers of the programme participants to keep abreast with the current oral care information for persons with dementia to facilitate their oral care for the programme participants.
▶ Cognitive training mini-games
Cognitive games provide useful and fun way of training / maintaining the cognitive function of the participants.
▶ Achievements and points rewards
Any activity on the app, performed by the participant or his / her caregivers, will attract point scores. Upon accumulation of the points to certain milestone levels, they will be rewarded with gifts. This is a measure to promote oral care self empowerment for participants or more importantly, for the caregivers of the persons with dementia.
